Connecting over good food

When Loretta Taylor Dale (’68) from West Memphis, Arkansas, heard Harding magazine had recently visited Shake Shack in nearby Marion, she sent us pictures she had taken at Dr. Clifton L. Ganus’ 95th birthday celebration held at the restaurant in May 2017. The entire Tacker/Taylor family posed for the picture shown here with Dr. and Mrs. Ganus that evening.

With nine out of 10 family members being Harding alumni, the love this family has for the University is not lost on patrons who see two Harding flags while entering the restaurant. Wear Harding apparel, and you soon may be discussing what class you were in, looking at a Petit Jean yearbook, or finding out your mutual college connections. This three-generation Harding family has had students under three presidents, Dr. Ganus, Dr. David Burks and Dr. Bruce McLarty, and you can see the portrait with their wives displayed with the elephant collection in the back corner of the restaurant.

It is that strong Harding connection and genuine Southern hospitality that makes the visit to Shake Shack worth the drive.

Enjoy, and let us know what you think.
