Victories of the heart

Head football coach Paul Simmons’ Facebook message on Jan. 24 read, “Searcy community, if you want to start off your weekend with some sweet encouragement, please come join our football team at the Ganus pool as we baptize one of our young men who says he “just feels lost.” Praise God for what the scriptures tell us about how desperately Jesus seeks the one who is lost! All are welcome.”

I love the vision that utilizes Bison football as a vehicle to develop men who become followers as well as leaders for Christ. With their motto, “Honor God,” the Bison brotherhood has touched many lives.

Now our players are blessed with the largest indoor field house in Division II thanks to approximately 270 former and current players, alumni and friends of Bison football. Honoring former head coach Ronnie Huckeba, the facility is being used by a program that finished No. 15 in the final American Football Coaches Association Top 25 Poll in 2019 — its sixth ranking in the season finale poll since 2012.

While these rankings are impressive, if the Huckeba Field House plays any role in bringing young men to Christ, the ultimate victory is being won.

Enjoy, and let us know what you think.
