A stellar outcome

I have one semester of pre-pharmacy credits on my transcript — not nearly enough to qualify me as any kind of health sciences authority. So when I was asked to be editor of Harding’s new Center for Health Sciences magazine, Outcomes , I felt out of my depth. I said yes nonetheless and stepped outside of my comfort zone.

Outcomes is about interprofessional collaboration in health care and also a product of interprofessional collaboration. Each professor within the various disciplines and each writing staff member readily accepted my request for stories. They could have easily said no, cited their other responsibilities, or claimed that either the topic or the medium was outside of their comfort zones. But they didn’t. The University says that we are a community of mission, and I saw that community in each person’s willingness to step up and contribute.

I hope you enjoy this first issue and appreciate all of the hands that have created this piece. I think the outcome is stellar.
